An updated flavor of the Google Translate application is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices out there, namely version 3.0.5.

The software was updated with support for handwriting in more languages, including Arabic, Bosnian, Cebuano, Gujarati, Hmong, Kannada, Maltese, Mongolian, Persian, Punjabi, Somali, Tamil, and Telugu.

The new app release also comes with a series of stability improvements and fixes for crash bugs, the changelog published in the Google Play Store unveils.

Basically, the new app iteration is centered around the expanded handwriting support for said languages, as the rest of the improvements are small.

The update should already be live in Google’s official portal, yet users in some markets might not see it there as of now.

If this is the case, you can head over to Android Police to grab the APK for the new Google Translate flavor, as it has been already extracted and put up for download online. The file is said to be safe to grab, and can be installed on devices via the usual sideloading method.

You can download Google Translate for Android from Softpedia as well. The mobile application should be compatible with all devices running under Android 2.3 and newer platform releases.
