Windows Phone 8

users in India are reporting an interesting change on their smartphones following the update to Windows Phone 8 GDR2, with Google Search no longer available as an option in browser settings.

Previously, they could choose either Google or Microsoft’s Bing to power their searches in the address bar, but it seems that the aforementioned update broke that, leaving only the latter there.

As WMPoweruser notes, users will still be able to go to Google upon manually typing the address, but default searches in the browser are powered only by Bing.

There’s no telling on whether the change will affect all Windows Phone 8 users upgrading to the newer platform release or only some of them.

No details on what caused the change have emerged either, and rumor has it that this could be Microsoft’s response to Google’s blocking of the new YouTube application for the mobile OS.
