A new flavor of the Android SDK Tools is now available for download through Google’s Android Developers website, namely Revision 21.1.0, aimed at providing app builders with updated and enhanced development tools.

According to Google, the new revision requires Android SDK Platform-tools revision 16 or later, as well as ADT 21.1.0 and later for those who develop in Eclipse with ADT, or Apache Ant 1.8 or later.

The new release comes with better error reporting in dx when dex merging fails in the build system, as well as with new aapt feature to compile resources.

“Added more than 15 new Lint checks, including checks for overriding older APIs, XML resource problems, graphic asset issues and manifest tags,” Google also notes.

The new Android SDK Tools for Windows can be found on Softpedia on this page, while ADT 21.1.0 is available via this link. Those who use a Mac for development will find them here and here, respectively.
