Recently, the company has decided to prevent owners of Windows Phone devices from accessing the Google Maps via their Internet Explorer browser, redirecting them instead to its search engine page.
The company said that the move was determined by the experience that IE could offer with its service, suggesting that Google Maps would work best on WebKit browsers alone.
However, following complaints from users and a broad media coverage, Google announced that it would restore the service, and it seems that it has already made the move.
According to the latest user reports, Google Maps is now accessible through Internet Explorer on Windows Phone 8 devices, which suggests that the issue was indeed resolved.
