The handset should arrive on shelves sometime next year
Mountain View-based Internet giant Google is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new high-end Android-based smartphone that would help it take down the Apple iPhone.Manufactured by Motorola, the handset is known internally as the “X Phone” and should hit the market sometime next year, a recent article on Wall Street Journal claims.
Apparently, Google is set to pack the new handset with various top-of-the-line, pioneering features, thus allowing it to stand up in the crowd.
No details on the hardware specs of the device have emerged so far, but it seems that Google considered packing it with a flexible display, as well as with software capabilities new to the Android platform.
Google purchased Motorola last year, and was expected to take advantage of the company’s expertise in the phone market for the launch of new, high-end devices, but nothing has been officially confirmed until now.
