One of the most popular Android applications, Google Maps has just been updated to version 6.5. The small update brings a few changes, mostly for devices that run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Firstly, the application has been given a new fresh look for Navigation on Android 4.0+ phones. The entire Navigation home screen has been redesigned to make it easier for users to fill in a new destination or choose from a recent and favorite locations.

Secondly, HD support for smartphones with high-resolution displays such as Galaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus or DROID RAZR has been included as well. This means that users who own one of these devices will get higher resolution map tiles, which makes them easier to read.

Last but not least, the application now allows users to choose to get transit directions for a preferred transit mode. Google Maps 6.5 for Android is now available as a free download via Google Play.
