Google has just announced that its Gmail application for Android devices has been updated with new features and improvements. The update will be rolled out gradually over the next couple of days, so those who did not receive it yet should wait patiently.

Two important new features have been added in this update. The first is noticeable at first glance, as the application now has a cleaner design for its conversation view. Lots of other design tweaks have been included as well, such as checkmarks for multiple message selection.

According to Google, the sync status has been made more obvious now, so Gmail users will now be able to check if their account sync is off directly from the inbox.

You can now download Gmail for Android for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the application is fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and up.
