Gionee launched the Marathon M2 smartphone back in 2014, and the device is still popular among Android fans. Although the smartphone ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, many customers prefer the Marathon M2 due to its low price.

Those who already got the smartphone probably know by now that the Chinese company doesn't plan to upgrade the Marathon M2 to Android 5.0 Lollipop. In fact, the smartphone will not even get an Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Nevertheless, it looks like Gionee put its engineers to work in order to try and fix some of the issues that owners of the Marathon M2 reported. These bug fixes are now available for download via OTA update.

According to a new report, Gionee Marathon M2 is now getting an OTA update that fixes some issues and brings some small improvements into the mix.

The official changelog mentions that the update brings improved junk call UI issue and fixes the display issue with Hindi fonts.

Furthermore, Gionee Marathon M2 users will now be able to create any groovy playlist with the updated music player. The update also adds a new theme called Lost in London.

More importantly, new Google applications have been added, though the changelog doesn't mention which ones, and an already available Gamezone app has been updated.
