What’s the eternal problem users have always had with smartphones? Insufficient battery life. Titans of the industry, like Apple and Samsung, have been trying to offer solutions by including battery saving modes and whatnot in their product, but the real fix might come from an unlikely place.

While everyone is hotly anticipating the Elife E8, Chinese device maker Gionee seems to have another ace up its sleeve. It’s called the M5 handset and it has just appeared in a teaser shared with us by Gizmo China.

And as the image reveals, the phone will bring about a disruptive feature - it will come equipped with dual batteries. So once battery #1 runs out, battery #2 will be there to take over the business.

No much is known about this elusive Gionee smartphone, but apparently, the company has managed to solve the size problem that prevented other manufacturers from launching any phones with dual batteries up until now.

We can speculate that the two batteries will at least offer 2,500 mAh battery capacity, so seeing the M5 deliver a four-day life cycle isn’t out of the question.

The company is yet to reveal more details about the device, but we’re particularly interested to learn about its thickness.
