The smartphone ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform onboard

Gionee, a Chinese handset maker, has just released a surprisingly high-tier smartphone in India, the Dream D1. This superphone will be available in India in late March for Rs 17,999 outright, which is about $330 or €255.

Gionee Dream D1 will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system onboard and a powerful 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor inside.

According to fonearena, the smartphone boasts a stunning 4.65-inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

On the back, the device sports an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, autofocus and HD (720p) video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary 1-megapixel camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the Dream D1 offers dual-SIM capability, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 32GB, 16GB card included) and built-in Digital Theatre System (DTS) Sound.
