Galaxy S5, allegedly the next flagship handset from Samsung, has been long rumored to arrive on shelves with a fingerprint sensor included, and some more info on the matter is now available.

According to a recent report coming from ETNews, the handset vendor is planning to pack the upcoming handset with a swipe fingerprint sensor that it has developed in-house.

The sensor will be different from the touch fingerprint scanner that Apple has included in iPhone 5, as it will detect swipes across it. Apparently, Samsung will place the sensor beneath the Galaxy S5’s display.

As SamMobile notes, the development of its own sensor allows the company to have more control over production, ensuring that it will have enough components to meet demand for the device (Galaxy S5 is expected to sell millions of units, just as its predecessors).

Unfortunately, no official confirmation on any of these has been provided as of now, and we’ll have to take the info with a grain of salt.
