Last month, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung officially announced plans to make the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system available for a bunch of Galaxy handsets, and it seems that the company has already started pushing it on Galaxy S4 devices in various markets out there.

The latest units to have received it are those in Poland, Malaysia, and the Philippines, as users have started posting on XDA-Developers Forum to report successful upgrades to the new OS flavor.

The new software release is meant to provide users with a series of performance enhancements when compared to the previously available Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform, as well as with a series of visual changes.

For example, following the update, users will see whitened icons in the notifications bar on their home screen, along with other improvements.

However, the guys over at Android Central claim that there are only a few differences between the new KitKat build and the older Jelly Bean software, and that the visual changes that Samsung has packed inside Galaxy S5 are not coming to older devices as part of this upgrade.

Even so, Android 4.4 KitKat itself has been packed with a variety of performance improvements too, and these alone should result in a better overall experience for all Galaxy S4 users out there.
