Earlier this week, Australian wireless carrier Vodafone has started to deliver a new software update to the Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphones on its network, providing users with support for 4G LTE connectivity.

The update, delivered to smartphones as the Android 4.1.2 software, brings a series of other enhancements as well, though the added support for 4G LTE appears to be the most important of them all.

“If you’re using a Samsung GALAXY Note II, you’ve already got yourself a 4G-ready phone. From yesterday, we began turning on its 4G capability,” the carrier announced in a blog post.

The new software release should be pushed to all devices before May 20, the carrier also announced, while adding that it would be made available in phases.

The update is available for download free of charge, and can be grabbed both over-the-air and via the Samsung Kies desktop application, Vodafone unveiled.

Other enhancements that the new firmware brings along include an updated Flipboard application, along with a variety of fixes and stability improvements.
