The handset will probably sell only in Japan for now

Mobile payment systems are slowly starting to become more and more common, and soon enough you’ll be able to pay almost anywhere with your flagship smartphone.

However, such systems might bring about loops that could allow the infiltration of criminals, who could get unauthorized access to sensitive information. But not with the solution Fujitsu has come up with.

The device maker has partnered up with Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo to launch the world’s first smartphone with iris recognition technology that can be used to both unlock the device and certify mobile wallet payments.

The system comes embedded into Fujitsu’s new flagship Arrows NX F-04G and seems a bit different from the technology Alibaba demonstrated back at CeBIT 2015, where it teased the “Smile to Pay” solution.

Instead of using the traditional fingerprint scanning method, “Smile to Pay” uses the smartphone to perform a quick session of facial recognition, eyes involved, although we’re not told if iris recognition is part of the deal or not.

Anyway, going back to the Fujitsu handset, the Arrows NX F-04G arrives with a 5.2-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 810, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, so as you can see, the device is flagship material.

It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and employs the services of a 20.7MP camera sensor on the back and a 2.1MP selfie camera in front. It’s also dustproof and waterproof and should arrive later in May for an undisclosed price.
