An updated flavor of the Flipboard application is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices out there, with some appealing new enhancements packed inside.

The most important of them involves the signup and login process, which has been improved and simplified, and which now allows users to take advantage of their Google accounts to access the app’s features and capabilities.

Before the update, users were able to do so only if they had a Flipboard or a Facebook account, but things have changed in the new release.

“Now it's even easier to create a Flipboard account: simply log in with Google. Use your Flipboard account to save things you find into your own magazines and access your subscriptions and settings on any device,” the release notes unveil.

Basically, users can now log in with their Google credentials to seamlessly create a Flipboard account. However, as Android Police notes, there’s no way in which users can move their linked account if they have already signed in with Facebook, and they will need to re-enter feeds and settings.

The update also brings along a series of bug fixes and performance improvements, but it does not include any new features, it seems. The latest version of Flipboard for Android is available for download through the official Google Play store.
