The folks at Flipboard have quietly updated their Android application with new features and improvements meant to enhance the overall reading experience of users.

It is also worth mentioning that the update adds a fair share of bug fixes that have yet to be detailed by developers, as well as improved performance.

According to Flipboard, the Android application now features improved navigation within sections, visible when one taps on the section's name.

In addition, users will now have easier access to Google Reader feeds and folders, and the in-app hints now unveil helpful functionality.

More importantly, the latest update brings new shopping cart features, which can be found in the Gilt Taste section.

Flipboard 1.9.6 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and up. Check it out here.
