Firefox OS hasn’t made it on a lot of phones and those who rock it are low-range models destined for emerging markets.

Now Mozilla is branching out to include another territory, as today the company has launched a device running its open source mobile OS in Africa.

The new phone arrives in the wild as the Orange Klif and offers 3G via Orange’s mobile network. The device is currently selling in Senegal and Madagascar.

The handset is actually manufactured by Alcatel, which also offers other Firefox OS handsets in markets around the world.

Like most of the Firefox OS devices, the Orange Klif boasts pretty low specs. For starters there’s a 3.5-inch display with 320 x 480 pixel resolution (165 ppi). Under the hood lies a dual-core 1.0GHz processor fitted with 512MB of RAM and 256MB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card).

There’s also a 2MP primary camera, but if you were hoping to take any selfies with this device, you’re going to be disappointed.

No word on how much the phone will end up costing, but judging by these specifications it should be for less than $100 / €89.

It’s no surprise that Mozilla has started selling phones in Africa, as the company announced it intended on making the territory a major focus ever since MWC 2015. The company started shipping phones in South Africa earlier this spring.
