Good news for Facebook addicts who are still dissatisfied by the application's speed, as developers have just released a new update that focuses just on that improvement.

According to the official changelog released by Facebook, the Android version of the application should now be speedier, but also more reliable.

Thanks to some of the under-the-hood changes made by Facebook, the Android application should also be more reliable with less lag and error messages.

Apart from that, some bug fixes might have been delivered as well, but no additional details on the matter have been confirmed by Facebook yet.

It looks like Facebook continues to update its Android application for speed and reliability in order to offer users from emerging markets a much smoother experience and less data costs.

Those who are already in the beta program get to test these new features ahead of public release, but they are also more prone to issues.

If you don't have the application already installed on your device, you can now download Facebook for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 2.3 and up.

Keep in mind that some features will only work on smartphones/tablets running Android 4.0 and higher, while other require Android 5.0 Lollipop.
