New features have been included in the latest version as well

Good news for Android users with Facebook accounts, as the social giant company recently started to roll out the new so-called “flat” design for the Android application.

Rumors on the “flat” new UI of both Android and iOS versions of Facebook emerged months ago, but no ETA had been given on the possible release for the general public.

Facebook’s beta testing program continued to add new features and improvements to the Android application, but the new design never came as an update, unless you were enrolled as an alpha or beta tester.

However, Phonearena reports that, beginning this week, Facebook has started to deploy the new “flat” UI to Android devices. The application seems to have been updated on Google Play Store, but the changelog is old and hasn’t been replaced with a new one.

Aside from the new design, Android users will be able to notice lots of small tweaks and improvements that have been added. You will find the new version cleaner and more streamlined, with most of the features just one click away.

You may or may not be automatically notified on the update, but keep in mind that this is a staged rollout, which means that the new version of Facebook will not be available in all countries at the same time. Did you get the update yet? What do you think about the new “flat” design?
