Facebook has just updated its Messenger application for Android devices with new features and improvements. The new version is especially useful for Canadians who will now be able to call friends for free right from Messenger.

Aside from that, developers made some changes to group conversations in order to allow users to name a group right from the top of their conversation.

Facebook Messenger users will also be able to get their group conversations in one type by swiping left to see them in their sidebar.

Searching for group conversations by name or look them up by friends in the group is now possible as well. The update also features other improvements and bug fixes, which have yet to be detailed by developers.

Facebook Messenger 2.3.1 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and up. Check it out here.
