An updated flavor of the Facebook Messenger application is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices, providing them with some appealing new capabilities.

These new enhancements are related to photos, enabling users to easily draw something or add text to images that they want to share with their friends on Facebook Messenger.

To take advantage of the feature, users will simply need to tap on the photo icon in the bottom control row, which will bring up a horizontal photo reel.

After selecting the photo that you want to share, you can tap on the "Aa" (text) or pen icon, which will allow you to type or doodle a message on the photo, as Android Police explains.

One of the issues that the new capability comes with is the fact that photos snapped with the Facebook Messenger's built-in camera cannot be annotated, as they are sent to friends immediately. However, you can still edit any photo already available on your smartphone or tablet before sharing it.

The new version of the Facebook Messenger is already available for download through the Google Play store, so head over there to grab it. Provided that the update does not appear immediately, simply check for it in a short while, as it might need some time to reach all markets out there.
