The popular MX Player for Android devices has just received an important update that further fixes some issues reported by users and brings new features into the mix.

First of all, developers have added some subtitle gestures (up, down and zoom), as well as three soft button display options for Android 4.4 on Settings / Player / Screen / Soft buttons.

The latest version of MX Player recognizes cover arts and does not require additional ARMv6 VFP, MIPS, and x86 codec package for Google Play Edition devices.

In addition, the update includes a workaround for crash on some Asus devices powered by Android 4.3 using Intel Atom CPU.

Last but not least, developers have confirmed they have added a folder hiding feature, which allows excluding specific folders from the video list, while keeping upper ones unchanged.

You can now download MX Player for Android 1.7.23 for free via Google Play store. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with most devices powered by Android 2.1 and up.
