An updated iteration of the Lync 2013 application is available for download for the owners of Windows Phone 8 devices, namely version 5.2.1072.0.

The new app release arrives on devices with a host of new features, including the possibility to join a meeting even if you don’t have a Lync account.

Furthermore, the new app release enables users to view more information about meeting participants, while also offering support for certification and passive authentication.

Other enhancements in the new app flavor include the option to pin a contact to the home screen for quick communication, and easier start of a conversation with a group. There is also Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program support included in the new app release.

“Anyone can use the Lync Mobile app when invited to a Lync 2013 meeting. However, you must have a Lync account in order to use (and enjoy) the full capability of the Lync Mobile app,” Microsoft explains.
