The number 1 messaging application for Android devices, KakaoTalk, has just received a major update that brings lots of improvements for high-res devices and smartphones powered by newer versions of Android.

According to developers, the latest update adds a new option for “Message Alerts” on KakaoTalk to follow notification settings for the device. This option is only available for devices powered by Android 4.0 ICS and up.

In addition, when viewing all the photos uploaded within the Chat Room, the number of images displayed in a line has been changed from 6 to 4. However, for devices with high resolution screens such as Galaxy Note 10.1, it will remain 6 per line.

The update also fixes a LED-related issue, so now when “Message Alerts” is off, the LED indicator on the device will be OFF as well. Last but not least, a menu for “Kakao Account” has been added and can be found in More / Settings.

KakaoTalk 3.6.9 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 1.6 and up. Check it out here.
