A new flavor of the Google Currents application has arrived on devices powered by Android, namely version 2.1, with some appealing new features packed inside, such as the availability of audio playlists for editions that do include audio.

Furthermore, the new app flavor brings to smartphones an audio media bar that enables users to stop and start playback, or jump to the next or previous item on the list.

There are also story scanner audio icons for launching Audio directly, along with status bar audio controls when Currents audio is playing.

Google Currents 2.1 for Android also offers syncing of post read state between devices, and packs a series of bug fixes, the release notes unveil.

Available for download for free on all devices running under Android 2.2 or newer, Google Currents can be found on this page on Softpedia.
