Android users who already downloaded BlackBerry Messenger last month and experienced issues with battery consumption will be happy to know that the Canadian company is now pushing an update on Google Play Store which is meant to fix this problem.

Aside from addressing this issue where some Android users were affected by higher battery use, BlackBerry has confirmed that it has added BBM Contacts categories.

In addition, with the latest version of BBM for Android, users will be able to list sorting and filtering in BBM Groups. You can now share BBM PIN and PIN barcode to social networks faster.

There's also a new “Tell your friends” feature that helps users connect with friends on BBM. Last but not least, various bug fixes and performance improvements have been included as well.

You can now download BBM for Android 1.0.2.83 for free via Softpedia. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.
