The handset is expected to arrive with really cool specs

Indian device manufacturer Micromax shared with us its plans of creating a new mobile device called Yu, not so long ago.

And following in the footsteps of popular Chinese device makers like Xiaomi and OnePlus, the Yu family will be sold only by virtual means.

Well, the company has apparently started sending out invites for its first Yu event that is scheduled to take place on December 18 (as seen at 91 Mobiles).

The invite doesn’t share any details about the Yu handset being a bit cryptic. It says, “Since time travel is not an option, block your date for 18.12.2014. Play God.” Kudos on the inspired font choice.

Not much is known about the Yu smartphone to be unveiled next week, but one Micromax official has been known to say that the phone is going to be a monster, hinting that it will have really cool specs.

We can only dream at this point. One thing is for certain: the smartphone will arrive equipped with Cyanogen out of the box.

So far, Micromax has used the MediaTek chip platform to power its range of current smartphones. But if the with the promise of greatness for Yu comes the hope, the handset will draw power from something like the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip platform.
