Research In Motion is finally getting ready for the release of the long awaited OS 2.1 update for its BlackBerry PlayBook devices, set to arrive on October 3rd, and is making the final preparations for that.

The company has made available for download the BlackBerry Bridge 2.1.0.26 software that goes along with the new platform release, and those interested in grabbing it should head over to the BlackBerry App World for that.

The app offers the option to view and respond to text messages from the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, and can be used to transfer bridge data on Wi-Fi when both the phone and the tablet are connected to the same access point.

The new release comes with a series of stability improvements related to pairing, as well as with connectivity bug fixes, and with enhancements to the user experience.
