Today, Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry announced the availability of an updated flavor of its BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK, with support for in-app purchases.

Courtesy of BlackBerry’s Payment Service, application developers will be able to implement in-app purchases within their software, either for subscription-based services or one-time purchases.

“Now you can choose your monetization strategy for your BlackBerry 10 WebWorks application: paid download, freemium, in-app purchases, digital goods, etc.,” BlackBerry notes in a blog post.

The company also advises developers to have a look at the API reference before getting started, since there are several new additions there, compared to the previous BlackBerry WebWorks releases.

Additionally, the new SDK release brings along some final bits of the BBM Social Platform, namely support for the Profile Box. It comes as a customizable box for apps, appearing in the current user’s BBM profile.
