Unveiled back in October with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box, the Padfone 2 is about to receive a major software upgrade.

Asus promised a few months ago that the Padfone 2 would be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean soon, and now fonearena reports that the update is live in Taiwan.

It appears that the update is rolled out OTA (over the air) in stages, so not all Padfone 2 users will get it at the same time.

Keep in mind that the update is build number JRO03L 10.4.5.33-0 and it will take around 15-30 minutes to flash it, so users should make sure their battery is charged before attempting to upgrade to Jelly Bean.

Although the update is only available in Taiwan for now, we expect that Asus will roll out the Jelly Bean update for Padfone 2 globally in the following weeks. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
