Sony announced that Android 5.0 Lollipop updates would be available for most of its high-end Xperia Z smartphones. Since the original Xperia Z was launched about two years ago, owners expected Sony to offer the update for this smartphone as well.

There were lots of rumors on Lollipop update for Xperia Z, as many sources claimed Sony might not be interested in bringing one of its oldest flagship smartphones to the latest version of Android.

Only recently, the Japanese handset maker has officially confirmed that Sony Xperia Z will eventually receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update. In fact, this is likely to be the last Xperia Z series handset to be upgraded to Lollipop.

All other Xperia Z smartphones that were confirmed to receive the update already got it. According to Sony, Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Xperia Z will be released in the coming weeks.

Although an exact release date hasn't been announced yet, it looks like the first screenshot showing the Android 5.0 Lollipop on Xperia Z has just leaked online.

It shows the Xperia Z powered by kernel version 3.4.0 and with build number 10.6.A.0. The same screenshot also confirms that the Xperia Z will be upgraded to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
