As expected, Sony has just kicked off the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop for the last two Xperia Z devices scheduled to receive the update.

Earlier today, the Japanese company confirmed an Android 5.0 Lollipop update is available for Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZR. While we assumed the upgrade would also arrive on the Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z, there was no information coming from Sony yet.

But that's about to change as the folks over at XperiaBlog report Android 5.0 Lollipop for Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z is now live.

The update brings the well-known Material Design look and feel, as well as intelligent lock screen notifications and customizable settings.

In addition, multi-user profiles and guest mode, along with storage optimization (move apps to SD card) have been implemented too. Lots of bugs fixes and under-the-hood changes are part of the update as well.

Keep in mind that while the Android 5.0 Lollipop file is about 680MB in size, you will need around 1.2GB of free internal memory to upgrade.

Also, make sure that your device's battery is at least 50% charged and back up your data on PC or SD card before updating to Android 5.0 Lollipop to avoid losing it.
