Motorola confirmed last week it had started soak tests for Android 5.0 Lollipop update for multiple smartphones, including the Moto G (2nd Gen).

After only a week of testing, it looks like the Moto G (2nd Gen) is among the first to receive the update. The original Moto G's update is still in testing, but it should be out in a few days as well.

Phandroid reports that Moto G (2nd Gen) owners in the UK and Germany have already started to receive a major software update that brings their smartphones to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Among the most important improvements Moto G (2nd Gen) owners will get after upgrading is the new Material Design UI, which features more fluid animations, new apps and system themes.

Also, the new and improved notifications UI that will bring users alerts on the lock screen has been implemented as well. Ambient Display, Motorola Assist and Downtime, a new flashlight option as part of Quick settings and many other improvements and new features have been added in Lollipop.

Keep in mind that your smartphone's battery should be at least 50% charged in order to download and install the update. Also, make sure you are connected to stable Wi-Fi network to avoid any interruptions.
