Owners of Huawei Ascend P6 devices in China have started to see the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system arriving on their smartphones, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The upgrade has been promised to them since January, but it appears that the Chinese mobile phone maker needed some more time to ensure that the software is ready for rollout.

According to a recent post on HuaweiNews, the update has started to arrive on smartphones on China Mobile’s network, and it should reach all owners of the device in the not too distant future.

Moreover, the news site notes that the firmware is bringing along the Android 4.4.2 operating system version, and that the Emotion UI has also been loaded on top of the platform.

Some of those who have already installed the new OS variant suggest that the upgrade went smoothly and that the phone works great after the process has been completed.

However, it appears that, while the TD-SCDMA version of the Huawei Ascend P6 is receiving the update, the owners of the international flavor of the device might have to wait a bit longer for it to arrive on their handsets.

Those who own this device model should be keeping an eye out for when the firmware lands on Ascend P6 at China Telecom, as that build will be compatible with their smartphones as well. This might actually happen in a matter of days, so stay tuned.
