Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has been rumored a few times before to plan on bringing the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system to its HTC Butterfly smartphones out there, but no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now.

However, it seems that the company is indeed planning on bringing the OS upgrade to this phone, and that it has already confirmed such plans on Facebook.

Responding to a user inquiry on the availability of the update for the HTC Butterfly, the company said that it would arrive soon, though it did not offer further info on the matter.

Previously leaked info on the matter suggested that the mobile phone would receive the Android 4.4 update along with the Sense 5.5 UI sometime before summer.

Unfortunately, as GSMArena notes, it appears that the original Butterfly won’t get a taste of the Sense 6.0 UI, the same as Butterfly S will.

Unfortunately, HTC hasn’t released an official announcement on its upgrade plans for the HTC Butterfly as of now, and it remains to be seen whether the aforementioned Facebook post was accurate or not.

It often happens that people in charge of a company’s social media accounts unveil details that either were not meant to be announced or will never pan out.
