One of the last mid-range Sony Xperia smartphones that has been confirmed to receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, the Xperia M2, is now eligible for the upgrade.

According to GizmoBolt, Xperia M2 is now receiving firmware update 18.3.C.0.37, which was previously reported as being Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Keep in mind though that this update is only available for Xperia M2 single-SIM version (D2303 LTE and D2305 HSPA+). For the time being, Xperia M2 owners in several countries report that they have successfully captured the update on the smartphones.

Based on these reports, we currently know that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Sony Xperia M2 is now available in France, Russia, Singapore, and Thailand.

However, given the fact that this is a staged rollout, we expect the upgrade to arrive in other countries in the coming days. It's also worth mentioning that Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware for Xperia M2 is only available via Sony PC Companion.

Expect to get a brand new Xperia home launcher, along with fresh Xperia Themes and new Sony Media apps in the latest software for Sony Xperia M2.

Some tweaks in the form of new Android settings and options, as well as updated apps (Sony Social camera) have been included as well.
