Developers can now grab the code to start building based on it

Google has started the delivery of the Android 4.4.1 KitKat operating system to the owners of Nexus devices out there not long ago, and the company also made the source code for the new platform version available in AOSP.

The update brings along various fixes and enhancements to Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 7 (2013) LTE, while also packing a great deal of camera improvements for the Nexus 5, the latest Google phone out there.

Developers interested in playing with the new OS version should head over to the Android Open Source Project to grab the code and start including it into their builds.

Unfortunately, Google hasn’t released updated factory images for the aforementioned devices as of yet, though it is expected to do so next week. As XDA-Developers notes, the KitKat MR1 (KOT49E) source can be found directly on Google’s Git.
