Users can grab it before Google sends it to them over-the-air
Nexus 4 users interested in getting a taste of the enhancements that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean JDQ39 has to offer to them can now download the update manually, before Google sends it to them over-the-air.The necessary file can be found via this link on Google’s servers, and can be installed on handsets that are currently running build JOP40D.
Those who have a custom recovery installed on their Nexus 4 handsets can easily flash the update through copying the .zip file on the device and installing it from there.
For those with stock recovery, things are a bit more complicated, as they will need to perform the installation via a PC, by using adb sideload.
The process is similar to that detailed for Galaxy Nexus a few days ago, only that users will need to enter the “adb sideload de8b8d101614.signed-occam-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.de8b8d10.zip” command in cmd to update Nexus 4.
