The update was released last month, but it was restricted to Samsung Kies

AT&T and Samsung kicked off the rollout of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S III about a month ago, but the upgrade was only possible through Kies desktop software.

Engadget reports that AT&T has confirmed that starting today, the Jelly Bean upgrade for Samsung Galaxy S III units will be available for download OTA (over the air).

Obviously, users will need a stable network connection, preferably Wi-Fi to avoid extra charges.

Those who have already downloaded and installed the update when it went live for the first time via Samsung Kies won’t need to do it again.

We also expect Samsung to push a small Jelly Bean update that is meant to fix the sudden death bricking issue and the Exynos ROOT exploit that have recently been discovered. Stay tuned for more info on this one.
