Owners of a Sony Xperia ion smartphone out there should rejoice, as a new operating system version is now available for download for them, namely Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

According to XperiaBlog, the new platform release lands on handsets as firmware version 6.2.B.0.211, and brings along a nice range of enhancements.

Among these, we can count performance improvements that come as part of Project Butter, as well as better notifications, and more. There is also the support for Google Now, which should provide users with faster access to the information they need.
