Samsung has just launched the Galaxy Ace 2 on the market with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on-board, though it did not say anything about a possible Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

Today, the folks over at SammyHub have just been tipped on an official demo video, which confirms Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is ICS upgradable. Moreover, NFC (Near Field Communication) will be optional and will be released in specific regions.

Although Samsung doesn’t say in the video when exactly the Android 4.0 update might be pushed to Galaxy Ace 2, at least it’s good to know that this Gingerbread phone will taste Ice Cream Sandwich at some point.

The Galaxy Ace 2 comes with an 800 MHz dual-core processor and a Mali-400MP GPU. The smartphone is based on ST-Ericsson’s NovaThor U8500 platform and packs 768MB of RAM.
