The handset is expected to enter mass production in late Q2

Although expected to become official in the first half of the year, the long rumored Amazon smartphone is now said to have been delayed to late 2013, as the device won’t enter production until June, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Apparently, the device is still under engineering verification test (EVT) period at the moment, due to issues with the mobile platform it will run under, a recent article on DigiTimes states.

Ensky Tech, Foxconn International Holdings (FIH)’s subsidiary in charge with the production of the device, won’t be able to kick off mass production until the end of the second quarter, it seems, which would delay the handset’s official launch.

No official confirmation on this has emerged so far – or on the smartphone itself, for that matter –, so we’ll take the info above with a grain of salt.
