Google hasn’t done a pretty job with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Nexus devices, so let’s hope the other smartphones that are supposed to receive the upgrade directly from the search giant won’t be affected by bugs and issues.

After Nexus 4 and 5 smartphones, Google plans to offer the Lollipop upgrade to some of the Google Play Edition (GPE) handsets, though no exact release dates are available for the moment.

Next in line are Android One smartphone, which have been released in India back in September. There are three handsets in the Android One portfolio and they will all be updated to Lollipop soon.

According to S Mobility’s CEO, Prashant Bindal, his company plans “to provide Lollipop in our Android One devices around January 2015 and the update will be available for all Dream Uno users in India,” IndiaToday reports.

For those out of the loop, Micromax, Spice and Karbonn are the only Indian OEMs that released Android One smartphone. We suspect the other two companies will offer the Lollipop upgrade to their products, the Micromax Canvas A1 and Karbonn Sparkle V, around the same timeframe.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling when exactly the update will be available since Spice’s official offered a rather large timeframe. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
