The new handsets are powered by the new Lexington chip
Computer maker Intel announced on January 7 at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a new generation of mobile processors aimed at the emerging markets and expected to make it on shelves inside devices coming from Acer and Xolo.In fact, both companies have brought such phones to CES 2013’s floor, and provided the audience with the possibility to have a closer look at them (but not to touch them, Engadget reports).
The new Atom Z2420 CPU (Lexington) sports a 1.2GHz single-core processor with HyperThreading, but can offer support for 1080p video and HSPA+ connectivity, while also enabling handset vendors to pack dual-SIM capabilities inside their devices.
For the time being, no specific info on the hardware specs of the new Acer and Xolo Intel-based smartphones has been provided. However, such devices are expected to arrive soon in India and other developing markets.
