AT&T’s Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer John Stephens announced today that the carrier is on track to launch new LTE services in additional markets, including New York City.

According to Stephens, AT&T will turn up its 4G LTE network in New York City later this month, and expects to cover 70 million people with its LTE services by the end of the year.

In addition, the carrier’s spokesperson announced that AT&T sold around 6 million smartphones in the first two months of Q4. Given this figures, the carrier expects to break its previous single-quarter smartphone sales record of 6.1 million.

There’s no doubt about it, AT&T will surpass the 6.1 million smartphone sales record this month, especially that December is usually one of the strongest sales months.
