We have not yet stepped into May, but ASUS seems to be very eager to keep the promise it recently made to its ZenFone users, that of bringing the Lollipop update to the ZenFone 5 LTE (A500KL) during the beginning of May.

True to its word, ASUS is taking us by surprise and rolling out the new build for the phone. The other ZenFones, including the regular ZenFone 5, ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 6, will be receiving the same treatment later in May.

The upgrade bumps the software version from V11.4.6.94 (make sure you upgrade to that before proceeding to the next level) to TW_V12.4.5.21. We’re also told you should expect it to be an 819.44MB download, so you need to make sure your battery is charged over 50%. The new software can be downloaded from ASUS itself at the link.

The ZenFone 5 LTE launched last year with a 5-inch IPS LCD display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and 294ppi. The phone draws power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card to 64GB).

The handset also has an 8MP/2MP camera combo and originally shipped out with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
