Play! 0.30
Emulators are great ways in which you can enjoy all sort of games on your phone, without having to use the original device. Play! is an PS2 emulator for Android and even tough it's in early beta stage, it seems to be heading in the right direction.
Neat and simplistic UI
There's not much to the emulator's interface, it simply opens with a menu letting users access the phone's internal memory or SD card in order to pick the game and boot it. It actually looks like a file manager and has some settings hidden under the settings menu.
You can enable FPS and let the app count how many frames-per-second are running in the game. Because it's only in beta stage, you'll have to be patient when opening games as it takes a while to load. Other than that, keep in mind that it takes up a lot of battery and could actually cause your device to overheat.
Play all sort of games
On the app's page in Google Play Store, the developer provides users with a whole list of tested games and possible issues that they may encounter, including crashes or problems with player movement or actions. Make sure you check it out in case the game doesn't run as expected.
Still, it comes with a complete virtual pad, including analog sticks and L1/L2/R1/R2 shoulder pads. The screen rotates so that you can enjoy playing as you would with a PS2 controller. Developers also intend to provide users with external gamepad support.
Get the app and become a tester
The emulator's popularity on Google Play Store is increasing and if you wish to try it out for yourself and become a tester there are some steps that you need to take. Firstly, join the Google+ community and the follow the link there to become a tester.
If you have Play! already installed on your device, you will receive an automatic update but if you don't, scan the QR code next to the review and get it from Google Play Store. You can leave the test at any time but you'll need to reinstall the app.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The UI is okay, there's nothing much to it except a menu for picking the game and the option to enable FPS. |
Function5
It's still in beta testing and seems to have trouble with playing certain games, while others crash or sound isn't available. |
Security10
No online registration is needed and the emulator doesn't read personal information on your phone. |
Battery1
It's a definite battery drainer so keep that in mind if you wish to try this one out. |
Price10
The emulator is completely free of charge, no ads or in-app purchases. |
Compatibility6
It only works on devices running Android 4.4 or later, mostly because it requires higher specifications to run games. |
It's still in beta stage so it's rather buggy but it's heading in the right direction.
