A sleek interface is mandatory for any weather app, considering that there are so many things you can do to make the UI appeal to users and capture their attention. Developers from Yahoo made sure that their app does just that.
It's not spectacular, but has just the right amount of style and functionality to make it easy to use with this neat layout and interesting using animation. It doesn't bother users with a tutorial or instructions and they don't need them anyway. It has a side menu and uses just a few gestures to access sections filled with information.
Check the weather in multiple locations
The side menu is where you'll find multiple locations to choose from and you can edit them easily. Add as many as you like and change them by simply tapping on their name. The app uses your phone's GPS to pinpoint your location and provide you with accurate reports from www.wunderground.com.
It uses animation to display conditions and HD pictures in the background from Flickr.com. Slide the screen up and you'll be able to check the wind speed, precipitation level and the hour when the sun and moon rise. It also provides you with the forecast on the next 5 days, filled with details and map with real-time conditions.
Tweak settings to make them match your preferences
Before you can fully enjoy the app, you'll need to tweak settings a bit. There's the option of changing the temperature units from Fahrenheit to Celsius or limiting cellular data. You can also enable severe weather alerts for multiple locations or adjust daily notifications for certain hours of the day.
Other than that, you have the option of enabling animations and the ongoing notification in the status bar. Yahoo Weather has an entire section in the side menu for other applications created by the same developers.
