Viewster 4.6.4
Simplistic UI with some shortcomings
Viewster doesn't require online registration to enjoy its content. However, the interface is rather simplistic and lacks some useful features. It doesn't come with a night mode or account settings. It's pretty straightforward and intuitive, so there's no need for instructions.
In addition, the app is available in several languages and comes with parental control, allowing users to block content and set a pin number to protect their account and children, in case they may access the app. In addition to that, the app records your browsing history and comes with the option of saving films for viewing later.
A short selection of shows
It's difficult to find TV shows online, but Viewster isn't an app for watching mainstream shows. The app focuses on delivering niche shows in various languages, but without subtitles. You can filter series by genre upload date or language.
There's an episode guide and the app opens with a short description of the series, together with ratings and the option to like or share the video. Viewster has a small selection of shows, produced in the past decade but most of them are foreign and don't come with subtitles. Still, they're free of charge and without any ads.
Browse through movies on various topics
The selection of movies is truly larger, with all sorts of films arranged into genres. There's a short synopsis, the list of actors and the release date. Videos load rather fast, but don't come with options of changing the video quality. In addition, video streaming freezes at times, ruining the whole viewing experience.
The trailer section is filled with trailers promoting upcoming and already released movies, together with behind the scenes videos and a whole description of the film. But the app doesn't mention the exact date when films will be released.
The actors section comes with a short biography, but no list of movies and projects. The app comes with Chromecast support, so you can watch movies on your TV comfortably. It also comes with a section that shows you which movies you've watched.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
Simplistic design that lacks many useful features, like night-mode view. Still, the app doesn't seem to have any stability issues. |
Function7
Video streaming freezes, but that also depends on your internet connection. Also, the app doesn't have any stability issues and seems to perform really well. |
Security9
The app doesn't require any online registration but many permissions from your phone. Parental control is also available. |
Battery7
Normal consumption of power for a video streaming app, keep a charger nearby if you intend to watch a movie. |
Price9
The app comes with plenty of ads and there's no other option of removing them except for sharing the app with friends. |
Compatibility8
The app should work just fine on phones with Android version 4.0 or later, but there's no mention about tablets. |
A good app for checking out niche shows and movies, if you're into that.
