SlideShare is a nifty app created by LinkedIn and contains interesting content neatly arranged into slideshows to make it easier to follow and share with friends.
Sleek interface with all tools at hand
Before you can start using the app, you need to register with an account, either Facebook or LinkedIn. But you can also use your email and create a separate account on this platform. The app resembles Pulse in the sense that after they register, it requires users to follow categories to see presentations that matter to them the most.
It doesn't come with a tutorial, but it's filled with tips and instructions presented as you start navigating in the app. You can adjust settings by tapping on the 'hamburger' icon on the top right of the screen. There you can enable notifications for uploads and likes or have slides that you've liked uploaded to LinkedIn. You also get direct access to the content you were looking at after installing the app from slideshare.net.
Watch slides on various topics
The app makes it easy to browse through multiple slides and find the ones that interest you the most. You'll get slides on topics that you've selected, as well as editor's picks. You don't necessarily need to open them, but can watch them directly from the list.
Like and share them for friends to see, the slides come in all sorts of sizes and the number of pages is displayed on the bottom left side of the corner. The explore section is filled with slides from the categories you're following, as well as all other topics. Follow or simply watch slides from other categories by tapping on them.
Save slides for later
The app lets users download slides for later, storing them in a separate section within the app. Your profile section also features a list of slides that you've liked together with the number of followers you have.
There's no option of creating or uploading a slide from within the app, so users must log into the desktop version and do that there. Also, slides open in landscape view and there's a grid view but you can't have the app automatically play slides and you need to constantly swipe the screen each time you're done with one.
